You are what you think, so, what are you?
Are you someone who could never get anywhere, because you never have? If you are then that is what you will always be. For this reason it is vital that you constantly monitor what you are telling yourself.
All of us have an inner voice, we may not actually “hear” it in the true sense of the word but I am sure we all know what it is saying to us. If you don’t know what your inner voice is saying then you have big problems because then things can happen at an unconscious level. This way we react to situations in a totally irrational way and do not understand why.
This voice can either hinder us and prevent us from moving forwards or empower us and drive us on to achieving greatness.
Consider this: take two children, both the same age, intelligence etc.
One child has parents who are constantly putting them down, always telling them what they cannot do, never congratulating them when they do achieve anything, never supporting them in anything they do and always telling them they will never amount to anything.
The other child has parents who always encourages them, never puts them down, always congratulate them on every achievement no matter how small, always supporting them in everything they do and always telling them they will achieve whatever they set out to achieve.
Which child in more likely to succeed?
I would say there is much more likelihood of the second child succeeding, wouldn’t you.
So, what has this to do with your inner voice? Well ….
If your inner voice is constantly putting you down, always telling you what you cannot do, never congratulating you when you do achieve anything, never supporting you in anything you do and always saying you will never amount to anything wouldn’t you feel exactly the same as the child in the first example.
If you tell yourself something often enough and for long enough you will come to believe it and what you believe you will act upon. Change what you think about yourself and you will change your life.
To get back to may first question. Are you someone who could never get anywhere or are you someone who hasn't made it yet?
Seems a minor difference but the impact of each statement on your thinking is tremendous. Someone who will never get to a dentist never will. Someone who can’t get to the dentist yet will do so: when they know how.
The first has no hope, the second has and where there is hope, if that is combined with commitment then there will, most definitely, be a way.
Change what you think and you will change your life.
What does your inner voice say to that?
